A wonderful shot of one of the world's most noteworthy experts on Oriental Rugs by Philip Shalam.
In selling some books I recently posted this note Marin Cultural Center Tribal Visions by Peter E. Saunders and Murray Eiland Jr. Paperback. Book 8 x 10 x .375 inches. Catalogue of an Exhibition of Village and Nomad Carpets from Marin County Private Collections at Indian Valley Colleges, Novato, California from December 18, 1980 to January 12, 1981 This book is inscribed by Peter to Ron O’Callaghan. Ron gave it to me with the promise that if I ever told Peter I had it I was supposed to tell him that I bought it for 25 cents at a yard sale. For those of you who don’t know Peter here is a link to a recent photo: http://www.oriental rugtalk.com/ forums/entry. php?25-One- of-the-world- s-most-noteworth y-experts- on-Oriental- Rugs On a serious note Peter is known for this book with Murray Eiland Jr, and a book with Kurt Munkacsi and David d’Heurle “Bigger is Better”. He has a long association with Christie’s and is thought to have catalogued the best of their rug catalogs. Anyone who is interested in Turkmen rugs should have this book.
